Made it to Lawrence Kansas after the previous days bust in Northern Iowa. We did not get moving out of the hotel early, and took the Kansas Turnpike south.
Chasing vs Going Home
Not that it ever was really in question, but we decided to continue on past Oklahoma City to chase the storms along the Red River. The original destination in Google mapping app was Wichita falls, although we’d continue on to approximately Holliday before stopping and turning back.

A highly HP supercell was ongoing with a reported tornado west of Seymour. I likened it to a land hurricane. After viewing some of the streams from chasers on the storm, I decided to bail on it. I did not want to end up in the road void near Seymour with a highly HP tornadic supercell bearing down on us.
We retreated to the Walters turnpike stop where we ran into Gage. We hung out at the fueling station there as little updrafts popped up nearby right at sunset. We’d end up not seeing much of anything and headed home for a couple days of downtime.
